Become a Mentor

Main Content

Graduate Mentors assist with narrowing retention, achievement and graduation gaps between targeted African American, Latino/a, and Native American students and at-risk individuals and the larger student population. GM's help the department realize a vision that creates a culture of student excellence. Becoming a GM is a rewarding way to put your undergraduate experience to work while helping other students’ transition from high school to college life at Illinois. GM's work 10-20 hours per week — including professional development meetings — and have biweekly meetings with students.

Compensation

GM's may be eligible for assistantships, depending on the college of enrollment.
